Nova Scotia tariff information hotline and survey launched

In a statement Thursday afternoon, Nova Scotia NDP Leader Claudia Chender said although U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs have been paused for now, “we must take this opportunity to work together and ensure we have a plan to respond and build a stronger economy for Nova Scotians.”

While welcoming the tariff response survey and hotline, Chender said the province also needs to create a task force that will bring labour, industry, Indigenous representatives, and political and community leaders together, “similar to what provinces like Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba, and B.C. have done.”

“Nova Scotians haven’t seen Tim Houston for the last two weeks and they’re wondering what comes next,” Chender said. “With 29,000 jobs directly connected to exports to the U.S., we must act now and meet this moment together.”
