Fall in Dartmouth and an election on the horizon

As we settle into autumn, Halloween is just around the corner, and we’re starting to feel those colder nights. Sadly, many in our community are facing these temperatures without proper shelter. Parker Street Food Bank is currently running a Coat Drive, and both Margaret’s House and the Dartmouth Community Fridge are in need of donations. If you can, please consider giving to these essential organizations—or reach out if you could use some extra support as we head into the colder months.

There are so many exciting events happening all over Dartmouth South. There’s still time to enjoy the Bluenose Ghost Festival! Also happening at Alderney Landing is Theatre New Brunswick’s Blue Birds, brought to you by Eastern Front. Check out the Community Events section below for more details. For additional upcoming events, keep an eye on the Alderney Landing and Sanctuary Arts pages for exciting happenings in our community.

This week was Small Business Week, and it’s a wonderful reminder of all the unique local businesses that make Dartmouth South so special. Keep an eye out for the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission’s 2024 Gift Guide to support our local entrepreneurs this holiday season. There’s no better time to find one-of-a-kind gifts while supporting our local economy.

With a potential snap election on the horizon, I want to let you know that while my office will still be available for help navigating resources, my advocacy services will be on pause during the election period. Our capacity may be limited, so please allow a bit more time for responses from my constituency staff. Note that we may not issue a November newsletter, but I look forward to connecting with you all on the campaign trail. Your voice shapes the issues we address, so let me know what matters most to you and where you need your government to focus its efforts.

It’s an honour to serve as your MLA, and I plan to continue representing the values, concerns, and needs of Dartmouth South.

As always, if you need assistance, please reach out to my office at 902-406-2301 or claudiachendermla@gmail.com.

Wishing you all a safe, cozy, and festive October!
