Majority PC committee rejects motions to revise bills, sends them back to House

Staunch public pushback against the bills might have been expected, especially following a March 5 rally outside Province House that had hundreds protesting what they called anti-democratic legislation.

“We’re hearing more or less what we’ve been hearing for the last several weeks and what we expected and that is when you come in with a surprise agenda and when you don’t consult any of the relevant or important people impacted by legislation, people are going to be pretty outraged,” Opposition and NDP Leader Claudia Chender said of the presentations at committee.

“That’s what we’ve seen over the last two days of public bills.”
