‘Reckless escalation’ as standoff ensues at Dartmouth Cove
Nova Scotia NDP Leader Claudia Chender spent a lot of her day on Dartmouth Cove. She said she was there in the morning not long after the fencing had been removed.
“The idea that they would block the path when they have no approvals for any project anyway and the land beyond that path, as residents well know, belongs not just to Atlantic Road Construction and Paving but also to the Province of Nova Scotia and HRM (is concerning),” she said in an interview Wednesday.
Chender said Premier Tim Houston needs to get involved immediately to restore access to provincial land, as well as protecting coastlines, including Dartmouth Cove.
