Houston’s Halifax Pride parade excuses don’t hold up, say organizers, NDP

The leader of the Nova Scotia NDP says Premier Tim Houston’s excuses for avoiding Saturday’s Pride parade don’t add up.

“In a world where 2SLGBTQIA+ people face violence and hate for merely existing, the Premier could have still attended the parade while taking the appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of himself and others,” Claudia Chender said in a statement released Tuesday.

“Now, more than ever, political leaders need to have a message of unity and support for all Nova Scotians.”
