N.S. premier takes swipe at federal government on consumer carbon tax
“. . .
NDP Leader Claudia Chender said the issue “lies squarely at the feet of the premier of this province, who instead of negotiating, chose to obfuscate and not engage with the federal government when it came to carbon pricing.’
Chender said the federal government was very clear that it would and could impose a carbon tax if the province didn’t come to the table and negotiate.
“They (Houston government) got halfway with the large industrial emitters but they didn’t go the whole way and now we have to wear it,” Chender said. “I would suggest the premier and his minister go back to the federal government and do them the favour and do us all the favour of negotiating with them.””
