Provincial NDP leader visits South Shore

“Ahead of what is likely to be a busy fall legislation session in Nova Scotia provincial NDP leader Claudia Chender visited the South Shore to get a feel for how the region is faring.

“The issues I heard here are remarkably similar to what I’ve heard around the province, people are concerned about health care, people are worried about the cost of living, and people are concerned with the environment, ” Chender said.

Chender also met with various operators in the agriculture and food industries as part of her party’s ongoing push to introduce healthy food options in schools. “The report that just came out from the province Attorney General listed the SSRCE as the one bright spot in terms of healthy food in schools, we know part of that is the proximity to farms nearby but we need to find ways to offer it elsewhere.”.
