Residential customers face 13.7 per cent rate hike by 2024 in Nova Scotia Power deal

NDP Leader Claudia Chender said Premier Tim Houston’s “last-minute interference in the independent UARB process to cap the Nova Scotia Power rate hike” is not preventing the skyrocketing cost of power and may make it worse in the long term
“People are left to wonder why Tim Houston won’t take real action to protect Nova Scotians from the huge increases in the cost of living,” Chender said. “ Despite his rhetoric, people's power bills are going up and that has many families wondering how they will make ends meet this winter. Premier Houston needs to immediately provide real help to people by pausing pharmacare fees, expanding the Heating Assistance Rebate Program, or providing direct financial support to families."
