NDP Leader Claudia Chender said a level of accountability is lost when independent boards are dissolved.

“We see this time and time again in the legislature and in the provincial government,” Chender said. “Democracy is inconvenient, it is inconvenient sometimes to have accountability to the public in the form of boards, but it is democracy. 

“Command and control is the oldest story in the book.”

Chender said the accountability of government as a whole is being diluted.

“They’ll have a referendum on the premier at some point but until then we’re going to have a harder and harder time knowing what’s going on.”
