Chender: Weekend graffiti unacceptable, act of isolated few

Dartmouth – Claudia Chender, MLA for Dartmouth South, made the following statement about the racist and anti-semitic graffiti in Dartmouth this weekend:

“The spray painting of deeply offensive nazi symbols in downtown Dartmouth and at Prince Andrew High School this weekend is unacceptable. These actions do not reflect the community I know and proudly represent.

My grandparents fled the Holocaust. To them, these symbols meant death.

Our community works hard to advance and celebrate diversity and build inclusive spaces. That these symbols are appearing in our progressive, dynamic community is heartbreaking and clearly the act of an isolated few.

I want to thank the HRM crews who reacted so quickly, and everyone who has made it clear that this hatred is not welcome in Dartmouth.”
