Chronicle Herald: Arts being expanded, not cut, says HRCE

"NDP education critic Claudia Chender said Friday she wrote Education Minister Zach Churchill to ask him to explain the situation after hearing rumours that 'all classroom-based arts teaching positions are being eliminated in elementary schools in the Halifax Regional Municipality.'

'Under this Liberal government, parents and teachers have repeatedly been the first to sound the alarm on cuts in the classroom,' Chender said in a news release. 'I have written to the Minister this afternoon to verify whether or not arts teaching positions are being eliminated.'

Chender had no new information to add on Sunday."
