CHRONICLE HERALD: High School asks parents to help recruit teachers.
"Claudia Chender MLA, NDP education and early childhood development critic, also slammed the provincial government, pointing out that bad feelings continue after a tempestuous labour dispute last year.
'It’s just terribly worrisome that we’re already into a school year and we have a robocall asking parents to recruit teachers,' Chender said.
'We know that morale among teachers is down. We know that first-hand from speaking with teachers.
'It’s a clear mark of desperation. I guess, to their credit, they are trying to fill the positions but it’s obviously not the right way to do it. We graduate a lot of teachers in this province and we should be able to fill those positions. It’s certainly worrisome when we hear stories like this.'”
