Zatzman Sportsplex Access and Inclusion - Member's Statement
CLAUDIA CHENDER « » : I rise today to recognize the Zatzman Sportsplex Community Association.
The new Sportsplex in Dartmouth is an inarguably gorgeous addition, but what makes it really special is its commitment to inclusion and to community. Leading accessibility aids such as the pool lift allow everyone to access the facility, gender- inclusive washrooms mean everyone has a place, and programming focused on seniors and teens creates opportunities for the most vulnerable community members to make use of this new space.
The Zatzman Sportsplex is also focused on reducing barriers wherever possible. They offer popular Teen Takeover Night on Fridays, where the facility opens its doors, including the gym, free of charge to youth between the ages of 12 and 17. They also offer free track times and pay-what-you-can memberships, ensuring that, as much as possible, everyone has access to the health benefits of the centre.
Please join me in thanking the Zatzman Sportsplex Community Association for focusing on being true community leaders.
